Introduction

Family Planning (FP) and Outdoor Patient Department (OPD):

Since 1985, PHCP started operating training and community development activities for the health and socio-economic development of the poor living mainly in the rural areas located along the northeast border of the country. The community people involved in this program are mainly hard core poor, widows, sharecroppers, marginal farmers, landless, low income, low health status etc. Now, the existing areas covered by this program are 5 Upazilas and the Upazilas are Durgapur, Dhobaura, Haluaghat, Nalitabari and Jhenaigati. This program mainly conducts educational sessions and trainings for the members of women groups, community or microcredit groups for their health and socio-economic development. The education and training conducted by this program are community development, basic health education, Immunization, awareness building, agriculture, microcredit, income generating, climate change adaption, and capacity building.

Wide range of facilities and medical services

Normally, community people suffer from diseases that they are not aware of PHC. The PHCP makes the community people aware of basic health care to prevent them suffering mainly from the common diseases. This program includes health care and motivation, educational sessions, orientations, training, workshop, gathering, rally, immunization, family planning counseling, agriculture, climate change adaptation and community empowerment. The contents of the program are common and water born diseases, diarrhea, using of safe drinking water and sanitation, awareness on safe delivery, prenatal, antenatal and postnatal care, nutrition, adolescent girls health education, malaria, FP, NVD, HIV/AIDS, and vaccination. Due to Covid-19 pandemic situation we could not properly achieve our targets of training, seminar and workshop. Mainly, women and children of the community are organized in a small group that deferent training and workshops are conducted for the group members. The trainings and workshops conducted for the group members are on health education & motivation, TBAs, CHVs, climate change adaptation, disaster management, agriculture, social development, basic and preventive health care.

Education and Training:

The Skilled Trainers or Facilitators of this organization organizes/conducts necessary training and workshop for the staff members, community people, and for the staff of other NGOs working around the country to equip them with necessary knowledge and skills related to their works. It has a network with other national NGOs and the NGOs are mainly Faith in Action (FIA), PARI, SATHI, BLMF Finnish, and Baptist Aid. The trainings and workshops conducted for different types of participants are- community development, group management and leadership, program planning, communication, adult education, simple accounting, primary health care, Agricultural, Small Business, Enterprise Development, Livestock and Poultry Rearing, Nursery, Pisciculture, Vegetable Gardening, Kitchen Gardening, Climate Chang Adaptation and Home Clap Management. The planned targets of conducting training and workshops could not be achieved properly due to Covid-19 pandemic situation.

Agriculture:

The local farmers are involved in different agricultural ventures and also they are orientated to the environment friendly agriculture through this program. Normally, the business oriented farmers use chemical fertilizers producing crops but this program orientates them to the negative impact of using chemical fertilizers and motivate them to use  natural fertilizers like cow dung; compost, etc. Also, it stresses the importance of planting trees and the farmers are demonstrated by the fruits garden located in the hospital compound. It has own agricultural resources like agricultural lands, fishponds, commercial and fruit trees and water supply pumps which are used demonstrating the local farmers how to carry out different agricultural ventures. The agricultural ventures carried out by the farmers are mainly vegetable production, fish production, livestock rearing, seasonal crops growing, quick fruits cultivation etc.
