VISION

To see a healthy society in which all people enjoy basic rights and are able to meet their basic needs irrespective of their gender, age or social background. It may also be described as a community free from physical, mental, economic, social and spiritual bondage.

MISSION

To improve the socio-economic and health status of the underprivileged and marginalized people especially women and children through community organization and developing their capacity to improve their social, economic and health condition.

OBJECTIVES

To promote health and socio-economic status of the poor and vulnerable people particularly indigenous people, women and children through health care, education and training, facilitating and involving them in microfinance for income generation.

Introduction

The GBC Christian Health Project (GBC-CHP)

The GBC Christian Health Project (GBC-CHP) is a community-based organization established with the support of Australian Baptist Missionary Society (ABMS) in 1964. There is a Hospital and Technical Educational Institutions of this organization, located in village Joyramkura under Haluaghat Upazila of Mymensingh District about 176 Km north of capital city Dhaka. This organization implements the projects related to the health care, technical education and community development for the health and socio-economic development of the community people living mainly along the northeast border of the country. Since its inception in 1964, it has been implementing health and community development projects and playing a significant role in developing the health and socio-economic life of the poor community people. The reality is that the health and development activities implemented by this organization contributed a lot towards developing the community people socially, educationally and spiritually.

The health and community development projects implemented by this organization are: Health Care and Services, Primary Health Care (PHC), Diploma in Nursing, Diploma in Midwifery (in partnership with BRACU), Microfinance, Agriculture, Functional Education, Training and Participatory Community Development Project (PCDP). It emphasizes implementing the activities like mother and child health care, reproductive health, economic sustainability, knowledge and skilled human resources, capacity building, gender & justice, awareness raising, counseling on different social and health issues, and climate change.
